Roman Forum, the centre of public life in the Ancient Rome

There originally was a vast grassy wetland in the place of the current Roman Forum (Latin: Forum Romanum), which was drained in the 6th century BC. This created a forum (plaza) where the first buildings were built in the 2nd century BC.
