The traditional Hotel Sacher in Vienna

The traditional Hotel Sacher in Vienna

Vienna is a city of waltzes and elegance. The former capital city of the empire and monarchy, in addition to a number of historical monuments and stately buildings, has also unique quiet atmosphere with a variety of cafes and ice cream parlors. Sitting in the coffee belongs to Vienna traditions and Sacher cake gained popularity worldwide.

The original Sacher cake, of course, can be the best enjoyed in the Hotel Sacher in Vienna. The story of this legendary chocolate cake with apricot jam and chocolate glaze began at the court of Prince Metternich in 1832. That's when 16 - year-old apprentice Franz Sacher prepared for distinguished guests extremely delicious dessert, which took the name Sacher-Torte.

The son of the creator of the original Sacher cake, Eduard Sacher, then improved the recipe and in 1876 he founded the restaurant and the Hotel Sacher. Currently, the Sacher cake is one of the most famous culinary specialties of Vienna and it is exported worldwide. Each Sacher cake is prepared manually according to traditional recipe.

You can buy Sacher coffee or tea in a decorative metal box as a souvenir from your visit of Vienna. Hotel Sacher is located next to the Opera-house and in addition to the traditional visits of Hofburg, Vienna Town Hall, Schonbrunn and Stefansdom, the cake at Sacher Hotel could be a good idea for a visit.
