Vienna, a metropolis situated on the right bank of the Danube river, is also called the City of Waltz or the City of the Giant Ferris Wheel. The origins of the city date back to the 1st century when the remains of the Celtic settlement called Vindobona became a base for a Roman legionary camp. In addition to its numerous sights, Vienna stands out from most of European cities for its pure environment and plentiful city parks.
